The Rock Show
Posted by sar715 on September 23, 2011 – 12:44 pmHi Eagles Fans!
Back in June, my high school friends and I decided to buy tickets to the Blink-182 concert that took place this past weekend. Now, keep in mind I am a huge Blink fan, so you can only imagine how excited I am that they have finally reunited to tour and put out a new album. Saturday turned out to be a beautiful but chilly day. My friends and I headed over to the Susquehanna Bank Center (or as I still call it, the Tweeter Center) while chatting about what songs we had to hear them play. I named their songs “Feeling This” and “Always” as my top picks. Surprisingly, Blink opened the concert with “Feeling This”, which secured my hopes that it was going to be a great show. Hearing all of the band’s old songs stirred up great moments of my wonder years and I’m glad I got to enjoy the concert with the people that make up those memories!
Blink-182’s lyrics are so relatable, catchy, and at times just plain ridiculous, that you can’t get them out of your head. Drummer Travis Barker, my favorite band member, performed up to my expectations and impressed me more than any other show I had seen him at. I am such a fan that I caught one of his drum sticks at the Warped Tour years ago and still have it displayed on my dresser! Growing up, I always wanted to take drum lessons and watching Travis play definitely rekindled my urge to learn!
The rest of my week has been spent moving into my new apartment in Philadelphia. I am extremely excited to be living in the city and love that fact that there is never a dull moment in the capital of the Eagles! Sunday’s home opening game against the New York Giants has everyone on their toes with anticipation and enthusiasm, as a big win is expected. To prepare myself for the game I headed to my hairdresser to get highlights and a haircut. Besides looking the part of a cheerleader, I need to be able to dance like one too. This week’s rehearsals were long and grueling but I left practice excited with the thought of showing off our new, sassy dances at Sunday’s game!
Go Eagles!

End of Summer and Remembering 9/11
Posted by sar715 on September 10, 2011 – 3:36 pmHey Eagles Fans!
Last week, seven other cheerleaders and I headed up north to Connecticut for an appearance for ESPN at Lake Compounce. It was a little more than a four-hour drive so we were extremely excited when we arrived at the beautiful campground and huge amusement park. After putting on our Eagles jerseys, we headed to the picnic area to greet ESPN workers and their families and perform three of our quarter breaks. The crowd was very impressed with us even though we were in “Patriots territory”! When we were done performing, we headed to amusement park’s most famous rollercoaster for a little fun. We hopped on the park’s wooden rollercoaster that when up and down the hills of the surrounding woods. Not the biggest fan of rollercoasters, it took the girls a lot of convincing to get me on the ride. In the end I’m glad I gave in and it proved to be a very exciting experience!
Labor Day weekend was a blast! It was my last weekend down the shore and I made sure to live it up to the fullest. I relaxed on the beach almost every day and swam in the ocean even though there were jellyfish everywhere…ew. At night, my friends, co-workers, and I headed to Atlantic City for some shenanigans, spending time on the boardwalk and in the Casinos to create some great memories. Although this all sounds like fun and games, I have to remember the Eagles season is in full swing. With this in mind, I headed over to the gym to workout with my personal trainer, Obona, for the last time. He kicked my butt all summer with his workouts and I have learned some valuable nutrition and fitness tips. Obona would play Beyonce’s “Run the World” song over and over to motivate me while reminding me she’s pregnant and still has a six-pack! Haha! I am definitely going to miss the Margate shore, but this only means I have a great “Summer ’12” to look forward to! ☺
With the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaching, time is being spent remembering those lost from this national tragedy. I remember being in seventh grade art class, and my principal called my teacher out into the hallway to deliver the news. Without telling us what was going on, my classmates and I traveled to our next class. When I got to the room, my math teacher put the television on and the class fell silent. At twelve years old, I could barely grasp the terror and tragedy that was sweeping through the nation. Yesterday, I made an appearance at Fox 29’s annual “Military Salute” on 4th and Market in Center City. Military men and women from all over the country gathered here as a band played and food and drinks were distributed from local sponsors. Three other cheerleaders and I were able to mingle with the crowd and bring some excitement to the gathering. After this, we headed over to Suburban station to bring some cheer to the morning commuters. The pep band, Swoop, and the cheerleaders performed the fight song and greeted travelers, bringing out smiles from the usually dismal travelers.
Take care Eagles fans!

Sarah

August Update :)
Posted by sar715 on August 17, 2011 – 6:43 pmHey Eagles Fans!
Sorry I have been M.I.A. for the past few weeks. Summer is slowly winding down and I am trying to pack in multiple activities and adventures before the weather changes. Madness was setting in on my friends and I in Margate and the beach was just not entertaining us anymore. To solve that problem, we bought a huge pool for our backyard! It took hours for us to set it up and get it filled with water. The end result proved to be worth the wait because it provided us with hours of amusement. Another adventure I recently had was spending an evening at the Borgata with the beautiful ladies I work with. Surprisingly, this was the first time this summer we made it out all together! We had a great night walking around the Borgata, venturing into the Mixx nightclub, and even getting a little gambling in. We have grown close this summer and I hate to think that shortly I won’t be spending every weekend with them. Sadly, I can tell the weather is headed in the direction of Fall, but that only means one thing: FOOTBALL!!!
This past week was crammed with Eagles excitement. Wednesday I had an appearance on Fox’s morning show to hype up the city for the preseason game on Thursday. The six other cheerleaders and I performed during three short segments, showing off some of our new bumps and cheers. It was a really exciting experience for me because I was able to see behind the scenes of a live television show. I really enjoyed this, as I hope to some day work on a production, on or off camera!
Thursday could not come fast enough and my excitement for our preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens was extreme. It felt so good to get back on the field and show off some of the things we have been working on. We opened the game with a new entrance, coordinating with the Eagles drum line. After that we performed a rock routine then took our positions in tunnel lines to watch our spectacular new team take the field. They did not disappoint anyone as they swept the game with a 13-6 win. Next thing on my plate was heading up to training camp in Lehigh Valley. My three friends made the two and a half hour trek with me from the shore to attend military day. It was a great day to spend with people who are serving or had served for our country. Back at practice, things are in full swing as we prepare for our next preseason game!
In between my busy schedule with the Eagles, I have managed to have my parents come visit me at the shore. We spent a gorgeous day on the beach together and then went to Ocean City to walk the boardwalk and have dinner. We decided to eat at the Hula Grill, a little Hawaiian inspired restaurant tucked away from the main part of the boardwalk. Full on salads and seafood, my family and I headed to Wonderland to jump on some rides. The Ferris wheel was a childhood favorite of mine so we made sure to fit that in. I even managed to get my mom to go down the super slide with me since we had a few tickets left over. As we took the plunge down I felt like a little kid again! We called it a night after the amusement parks because my parents had to make the drive all the way back home to Downingtown.
A lot of other new things are going on as the summer begins to dwindle down. Sadly, the shore is emptying out as my best friend, Justine, left for law school at the beginning of this week. The day before she left, all the girls got together and threw her a small party at the Continental to wish her good luck at school. We bought her some going away presents, such as a brand new bag and planner to make sure she is organized in style as she begins her law career at Widener Law!
Until next time…. GO EAGLES!!!

Eagles Fly Again!
Posted by sar715 on July 29, 2011 – 9:58 pmHey Eagles Fans!
I am ecstatic football is back! I don’t know what I would have done without the thrill of performing in front of fans, exciting games, and the possibility of a Super Bowl win! Wednesday’s practice took place at the Lincoln Financial Field, a place that seemed like my second home during football season. I was very excited to be stepping out onto that field again to prepare our dances for or first preseason game on August 11th!
There’s also been a lot of excitement going on in other areas of my life. My parents came to visit me down the shore this past week. We went out for a late birthday dinner at the Continental in the Pier at Caesars. I love this restaurant because of its unusually fun food and family style dining. My favorite dishes by far are the buffalo chicken meatballs and spinach raviolis. After dinner, we looked in some stores and took a walk around the casino.
The rest of the week was not as much fun. Tuesday was a sad day for me. A fun chapter of my life officially closed when I moved out of my apartment in West Chester. I had a year full of good times and great memories in that apartment. I am a little nervous for the fall because for the past four years I have been living either down the shore or at school, so now I have to do some apartment searching and find myself a new home. I guess the saying really is true that, “when one door closes, another door opens”, because although moving out of my apartment was sad, I am excited to see what lies behind the next door!
Have a great weekend….. E-A-G-L-E-S…..EAGLES!!!!!

It’s That Time of the Year: My Birthday!!
Posted by sar715 on July 17, 2011 – 11:00 pmHey Eagles Fans!
It has been way too long, let’s catch up! Last Sunday, my roommate’s mom dropped off her dog, Mojo, for us to watch for the week. Mojo is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel with a beautiful white and brown coat. At first, he was a little nervous being so far from home because every time we tried to walk him he would stop dead in his tracks. This ordeal had us wondering how he would respond to the beach so we decided to carry him down to the sand and test it out. Surprisingly, Mojo loved it and was running back and forth from the water. Wednesday, I had practice in Philly so I had to say goodbye to little Mojo. ☹
Practice was intense because we spent the entire time learning new bumps and cheers. This practice definitely got me excited and looking forward to the upcoming season. Thursday I had an appearance at the U2 concert at the Lincoln Financial Field. The other cheerleaders, Tracey, Janelle, Amanda, and I caught a ride in the Swoop mobile from Novacare to the Lincoln Financial Field to avoid the crazy amount of traffic. When we arrived, we went straight to the 94 WYSP tent to take pictures with fans. After the appearance, we wandered onto the field to catch a glimpse of the gigantic stage. It was an impressive sight and I wish we could have stayed to see the concert!
When I got home Thursday night my roommates had a birthday surprise waiting for me…..a carrot cake! This is my absolute favorite type of cake and was so happy they thought of this. The night was flying by but my friends and I managed to spontaneously get tickets to see Harry Potter at midnight. As a huge Potter fan, I had spent the past week or two watching every single movie to prepare myself for the final chapter of this saga. I was not disappointed and the last movie proved to be as suspenseful as the rest!
Finally Friday came and it was time to celebrate my 22nd birthday! Cheerleaders Kelsey and Danae spent the night with my friends and I out on the town. Saturday had gorgeous weather so we ate lunch outside at the greenhouse, and then spent all day lying out in the sun. I’m so happy they came visit and that we had a chance to catch up and bond over this great weekend!
Xoxo,
Sarah

Festivities on the Fourth!
Posted by sar715 on July 7, 2011 – 10:24 pmHey Eagles Fans!
This past weekend was action packed with activities! Saturday and Sunday I missed out on beach activities because of work. The holiday weekend is the biggest weekend at my work. The pool party featured famous guest DJs and a dance floor by the pool! Even though I had to work, it was a really fun day. On Sunday I woke up extra early because Margate had a terrible thunderstorm looming over it. The thunder was so loud our house was shaking! When Margate gets rain it only means one thing: flooding… I walked out my front door and into a river on the street. The water was up to my knees at some areas of the road and the rain was still coming down. I finally made it to my car after avoiding the tidal waves of water other cars were sending my way!
Work was a little slow in the beginning so my co-workers and I spent some time watching the Casey Anthony trial. It is always good to be knowledgeable about current events on the local and national level. Our TV time was up when the sun broke through the clouds and our workload picked up. Luckily, Sunday shaped up to be a great day! A twelve-hour workday paid off when the girls and I sat down to figure out our tips!
Monday rolled around and I hope everyone had an awesome Fourth of July! I spent my day relaxing on the beach. My roommates and I decided to dress festively for this summertime holiday and wore only red white or blue bathing suits. After having a mini photo shoot in our outfits, we jumped in the water. Finally, the ocean is getting warm enough to stay in longer than just a few minutes! The rest of my day consisted of BBQing, playing games in my backyard, and gathering around my neighbors as they set off fireworks!

3 Days of Peace and Music
Posted by sar715 on June 28, 2011 – 12:13 amHey Eagles Fans!
“Crash into Me”, “#41”, and “Trippin’ Billies” are among the many Dave Matthews Band songs that I love to listen to. As a fan since high school, I have not missed one of their summertime concerts yet! Surely, this was not about to change when I heard that the Dave Matthews Band Caravan was coming to Atlantic City! This three-day festival was taking place at the old Bader Field Airport, located only ten minutes from my shore house. Of course, I am not the only DMB fan, as eight of my friends decided to share the Caravan experience and spend the weekend at the festival with me.
Arriving at the festival, I was overwhelmed with what to do first! The field was the setting for three stages, carnival games, and even a giant Ferris wheel. My friends and I decided to check out the merchandise tent first, then preceded to visit the farmer’s market and eco-village. Before claiming a spot in front of the Boardwalk Stage for Dave’s performance, I checked out the much talked about The Flaming Lips show. This band took a risk and meshed together The Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon to create a really interesting sound, to say the least. The song played on and the fans showed their extreme enthusiasm with continuous cheering. Overall, the band sounded great and I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw of the show!
Now on to the main attraction! Overlooking the bay as the sun began to slowly fall could not have been a more perfect backdrop for Dave Matthew’s Band to play. Beginning the show with Proudest Monkey and You Might Die Trying was so exciting, as they are some of my favorites! DMB played old songs and new songs, crowd-pleasers and band-teasers. The best part of all was that the band came back for four encore performances!! My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed Dave’s set and were not disappointed throughout the rest of the weekend! To complete our fun-filled weekend, my friends took my roommates and I to breakfast to thank us for our hospitality over the weekend. This summer has been great so far…I can’t wait for what’s to come next weekend for the 4th of July!

Busy Weekend in AC!
Posted by sar715 on June 21, 2011 – 2:34 pmHi Eagles Fans!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! To jump-start my weekend, I went to the House of Blues to see the artist, Girl Talk. This musician mixes up songs and mashes up beats to create his compositions. I have been a fan since I was a junior in high school, so I was pretty excited when I heard my friend got us tickets. Surprisingly, this was my first concert at the House of Blues. Sitting in the balcony, I had the perfect view of Girl Talk and found the place had a personable lay out for good chemistry between the audience and artist. The House of Blues is definitely a great venue to see your favorite artist because it is small enough so that every seat has the perfect view. Before it got too late though, I left the concert and headed over to Harrah’s to visit cheerleader Kelsey, for her 21st birthday. Kelsey and I have grown close over the last year and I was excited to meet her friends and spend some time with her. First thing I noticed when I saw her were her sparkly silver shoes and I knew she was ready for her first big night out on the town!
Hope you had fun Kelsey and Happy 21st!!
Saturday had gorgeous weather, but I was unable to make it to the beach because I had work all day. Even still, I was able to soak in some of the sun’s rays! Serving cocktails and lunch in the gorgeous cabanas by the pool is hardly a tough summer job. Although I work hard and I am exhausted by the end of the day, having a view of the beach that could not get any better, makes it all worth it. Having lived down the shore for a few summers, I have worked at a couple different locations and find this year’s staff to consist of the most beautiful and fun girls in Atlantic City. When we have eight-hour workdays it helps to have silly co-workers to pass the time! It was pretty busy on Saturday, but Ashley, Gillian, Justine and I were able to sneak in a quick picture! ☺
On Sunday, I was off, but I was unable to make it home for Father’s Day. My dad is extremely laid back so he understood that I just could not escape the shore. I called him bright and early Sunday morning and promised him I’d make a trip home this week to go out to dinner. Miss you Dad, Happy Father’s Day!
Have a spectacular week Eagles Fans!

Summer lovin’
Posted by sar715 on June 14, 2011 – 8:49 pmHi Eagles fans!
For the past four years, I have moved from apartments at school in the winter, to shore houses at the beach in the summer. With that being said, I have not been home to my parents’ house for more than a few hours at a time. Some of my favorite past time memories is playing in my pool and hosting barbeques and bonfires. This past week I spent some time at home doing just that! My friends, Justine, Lauren and Lauren came over and we lounged in my beautiful backyard. My pool water was a warm eighty-five, making it easy to dive right in. Another thing that I miss about being home are my cats, Peabody and Fuzzy. Peabody by far is my favorite cat and I find his pink button nose adorable! It’s nice to live on my own but there are some things about home that just can’t be duplicated anywhere else!
Friday I attended Neumann-Goretti’s high school graduation and watched my friend Adriana walk in the ceremony and earn her diploma. She was even honored with an award! The ceremony was held at the home of the Temple Owls in the Liacouras Center. Appropriately though, the place was revamped to resemble the black and gold colors of the Neumann-Goretti Saints. I’m so proud of Adriana and cannot wait to see what her future holds for her. Personally, I was not a fan of high school, and therefore my graduation day was one of the best days of my life. Graduating from college, on the other hand, was a much different story. Over the past four years I found that college life was a much better fit for me. The entire experience I had, and all the friends I made, are truly special to me and always will be. The phrase bittersweet, although cliché, is the absolute best way to describe my feelings towards graduating from college. It was the best time of my life and I wish I could continue on that road, but I know its time to embark on a new, more exciting adventure.
Today I spent relaxing by The Pool at Harrah’s. My friends Justine and Brittany, and I grabbed lunch in the tropical oasis then sprawled out in one of the plush, decked out cabanas. We watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ latest episode, read a little of Cosmo, and even took a dip in the hot tub! There was even water aerobics going on in the main pool, but I showed up too late to join in the activities. My friends and I already decided we would come back for the water exercise class one day next week! As for tomorrow, I plan to spend the day on the beach relaxing and preparing for the busy weekend coming up! Hopefully the sun can find its way out! ☺
Go EAGLES!

Peace, Love, and Sandy Feet!
Posted by sar715 on June 8, 2011 – 3:08 pm“A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.” Two of my best friends from high school, Lauren and Lauren, decided to take a break from the scorching heat in Downingtown and come visit me in marvelous Margate. We have been friends since tenth grade health class and have kept in touch throughout our college years. Always laughing and cracking jokes on each other, I was excited when they arrived Monday night after the Phillies game. Full of energy, I could tell they were up for the complete Jersey shore experience. We decided on a little tour of the Borgata casino to start their vacation off right. I find the Borgata to be the most beautiful casino in Atlantic City so I decided it was a must-see for my friends.
Laziness swept the house Tuesday morning and there was a unanimous vote to spend the day lounging on the beach. The Atlantic Ocean is warming up so a good part of our day was spent in the water because it was so hot out. To check another Jersey Shore must-see off our list, we ventured to the Ocean City Boardwalk for Mack ‘N Manco pizza. After eating, we walked the boardwalk and stopped in my favorite shop, The Islander. The little boutique was packed full of Free People clothing and I immediately decided I need to come back to complete my summer wardrobe.
Finishing up our night, we spent time in my backyard playing ladder ball. As a considerably competitive person, I was not happy that my team lost at this game. Today was Lauren and Lauren’s last day visiting so we spent a little time on the beach and made sure to hit up Wawa for their annual hoagie fest! From A.C. to OCNJ, their visit was definitely a complete Jersey Shore experience!
