Life is short… Enjoy it

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on August 21, 2011 – 12:22 pm

Hello Eagles Fans!

Well, what a crazy past couple of weeks it has been for me!!

So as I told you in my last blog, my grandmother wasn’t feeling so well.  She passed away on August 4th. My grandmother has been there for me ever since I was born.  She lived with my family and I, so its hard to come home and not see her here anymore.  But I know that she isn’t suffering anymore and is in a better place.  Life is short, so enjoy it!  I was one to speak at her funeral… and let me tell you how hard that was.  As soon as I got in front of everybody, tears started to fall.  I sobbed and cried for about one minute straight until Icalmed down a little to read what I wrote. After I was finished reading, I felt so good about what I said about my grandmother.  Here is a little something of what I said at the funeral….. “My family and I were very grateful that we were given a chance to show her our love and to tell her how much we love and appreciated her before she took her last breath. Saying goodbye is the hardest but moving on will be the most challenging part.”  So with that being said I miss and love you Nanay, you will never be forgotten!

Last week my brother moved into his first apartment!  He goes to college at CAL U (California University of Pennsylvania)  My brothers name is Calvin and some people will call him Cal for short.  I think its funny because when we go onto campus everything says CAL, so its like everything is personalized for him.  Here is a picture of the exit sign for California, Pa…. I wish the real California was this close.

California, PA

My brothers backyard to his first apartment! The river and railroad tracks

I have to share with you my experience of my very first eagles game! It was amazing!!! To be on the Lincoln Financial Field in front of thousands and thousands of awesome eagles fans is an experience on its own but then there was dancing in the middle of the field for our pre game dance, dancing and cheering on the side lines.  Everything was just crazy!  It hit me as I was taking my first step onto the field that I was officially an eagles cheerleader.

@ my first game!

Enjoy your sunday!

E*A*G*L*E*S EAGLES!!!

Get ready for football eagles fans!

How exciting have these past couple of days been for our Eagles!?!  We signed some really good players to the team that should help us on this upcoming season!  Watch out… our defense is looking pretty tough.  I’m definitely looking forward to my rookie season.

Today was Dani’s special day…her wedding day!  She had a perfect day for it too!  Where do I even begin describing her wedding?  From the church to the reception, everything was just absolutely beautiful!  It was also a great time to bond with some of my Eagles team mates.  To see the ladies outside of rehearsals and appearances is nice because we can all catch up on things and get to know each other better.  Janel, Cat and myself (the rookies) got to spend a lot of time together since we were all at the same table and had a great time!

I left Dani’s wedding early because my house has been full of people the past couple of weeks.  A lot of family and friends have been over to see my grandmother.  As I’m sitting on the couch typing away, I have little cousins running around the house, babies drinking from their bottle, cousins skyping with other cousins in the Philippines, Aunts and Uncles talking at the table and hearing the doorbell ring every hour.  I’m glad to have people in my life that care about my grandmother.   She is still pretty sick, were all waiting by her side and letting her know that were here for her and love her.  My grandmother is very special to me.  She has taken care of me since I was born and then when she started getting sick, my family and I started taking care of her.  It has been a rough couple of weeks but I want to and need to be there for my mom, aunts and uncles also. My grandmother had 9 kids.  They are all here now besides my one aunt who is still in the Philippines and my Aunt Alice passed away a couple of years ago.  My entire family is very close and I have a big family; like I don’t even know where to begin theres so many people.  I love my family very much!

Well I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Congrats again to Dani & Scott! I’m SO happy for you both :)

Hot chocolate in 100 degree weather!?

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on July 24, 2011 – 11:25 pm

Hello Eagles Fans!

Relaxing in my robe

Yes, I did have hot chocolate in 100 degree weather but I have a good reason!  I was at the sweetest place on earth… Hershey!  Another half of my birthday present was going to the Spa at Hershey Hotel and it was AMAZING!  When I checked in they gave me a comfy robe and slippers to put on.  Then escorted me to one of their quiet rooms.  The quiet room that I was in had coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate and a variety of muffins… including chocolate muffins.  Even though it was 100 degree weather out and as funny as it sounds, it felt right to drink hot chocolate.  I was in a comfy chair, in a comfy soft robe and in Hershey, so I had to have a cup of hot coco. The spa was beautiful and everyone there was very friendly.  It was my second time coming here and I can’t wait to go back again soon… Hmmm I’m thinking for a christmas present :)  After the spa, my boyfriend took me out for dinner at a seafood restaurant called Devon.  I had swordfish, mashed potatoes and lobster mac n’ cheese. Yumm! For dessert, we went to chocolate world to get a milkshake!  Everytime I’m around Hershey I always get a Hersheys chocolate milkshake, their delicious!

Tomorrow is Monday and that means work, work, work all week.  This week I also have rehearsal Tuesday and Wednesday.  Its going to be a busy week!  Well I had a nice pampering weekend and I hope you all keep cool and had a great weekend as well! Until next time…..

My Birthday Mini Vacation

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on July 15, 2011 – 9:30 pm

Hi Eagles Fans!

I apologize for not blogging lately! The past couple of weeks have been pretty tough for me.  My grandmother has been very sick, my family and I want to spend as much time with her as we can……But on a positive note, I have just celebrated my 22nd birthday!

My cousin, Malaya and I smiling for the camera!

I celebrated my birthday in Atlantic City for 4 days.  It was a mini vacation for me!  My family and close friends were all there to celebrate with me.  My friends and I stayed at the Tropicana Resort.  The atmosphere is very lively and beautiful.  There was always something for us to do but my favorite part was when we spent the entire day at the beach!  It was  so relaxing and fun!  Before we went to the beach we all had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.  They called us a “safari of 6″ which meant a “party of 6″ and during our lunch there would be “rainstorms” in the rainforest while we were eating.  It was a good time, they even brought me a birthday cake with a candle to blow out!  We were all so full but when we got to the beach we dropped our stuff and ran like little kids into the ocean.

Alessio, Me, Zachary, Brandi, Dorsey and Megan

During our down time my boyfriend took me birthday shopping at The Pier and then had dinner at Phillips, where I ordered my favorite crab dip!  The other half of my birthday present is going to be very soon at The Spa at Hershey Hotel getting a Chocolate Escape Package! Which includes a whipped cocoa bath, chocolate sugar scrub, chocolate fondue wrap, cocoa massage and lunch! I cant wait to tell you all about it! I have a big sweet tooth and I’m obsessed with their Hershey’s chocolate milkshakes… Mmmmm :) can’t wait for that either!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Busy Busy Bee

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on June 8, 2011 – 2:32 pm

Hey Eagles Fans!

I hope everyone is staying cool today.  Like I said, I love the sun, but today I’ve been relaxing inside with my puppy, Knuckles.  As I’m typing this blog, Knuckles is watching me type with his head cocked to the side… SO cute! Knuckles is about 5 months old now but he’s a big puppy!

How can choose just one, with all the cute puppy faces :(

Knuckles (5 months old)

Last week, a couple of my friends and I went out to dinner.  This restaurant was awesome! It is both indoor and outdoor.  We all ate outside; surrounding us was a pretty pond with a fountain, tiki torches and tall palm trees.  It was a different environment….it felt like I was on an island, you wouldn’t think you were in Reading, Pa.  Plus the food was delicious!! I loved there crab dip!

This week I have an appearance almost everyday.  On Monday, I had an appearance at the Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa for a charity golf tournament.  It was a beautiful golf course!  Everyone there was welcoming. I honestly used to think golf was very boring and pointless watching but now I enjoy watching and even playing golf.  I’m not saying I’m good at golf but I try my best….for now I like putting and driving the golf cart.  I give props to people who play golf because it is a frustrating sport. Tonight I have rehearsal with my other teammates!  I’m excited for tonight because I miss dancing and I’ll get some practice for tomorrows appearance.  Tomorrow night some of my teammates and I will be performing at the Wilmington Blue Rocks for Eagles Night in Wilmington, DE.  I can’t wait!

On Friday, I’ll be in Wynnewood, PA for a Pep rally kick off for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Fundraiser in Wynnewood, Pa. Then on Saturday, some of my teammates and I will be at the Rockvale Sqaure Outlets in Lancaster for the Eagles End Zone appearance.  Finally on Sunday, I’m bartending at my job.  So as you can tell I have a pretty crazy week ahead of me and that’s not including my summer class and work schedule.

One of my best friends, Megan and I swinging in hammock seats at the restaurant after dinner

Thanks again for reading!

Until next time…….

The dream is now a reality

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on June 1, 2011 – 9:50 pm

Hey Eagles Fans!

Blue flowers my mom got me after graduation!

I can finally relax for a little and enjoy my weekend off! Congratulations to all of the 2011 graduates! I graduated last Friday and on Saturday had my graduation party. It feels so good to graduate, there’s a lot of weight off my shoulders now.  No more stressing over homework, tests or 7-10 page papers! Here is how my week went….

So since I accomplished graduating from college and made it as a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader, I thought that this was definitely a reason for celebrating!  My dream has become a reality.  So like I said last week, I wanted you all to keep your fingers crossed for me because I didn’t want it to rain for my graduation party…. and it didn’t rain at all! It was perfect out!  There were family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and previous dance team members that attended my graduation party.  I’m thankful to have such great people in my life.  I have a very big family and we are all very close.  Being with my family and friends is what I love the most.  My family has supported me through out my entire life and I don’t know what I would do with out them.  For example: My family started preparing and cooking food for my party 3 days prior!  Staying up late and waking up early to get things done.  Like any party my family has, we always have tons and tons of food.  I really want to thank my entire family for everything! I love you all so much!

I love to plan parties, that is one of my favorite things to do.  I told all my best friends that I couldn’t wait to be their wedding planners! I am a very organized and creative person.  So I use that to good use and plan parties.  For my graduation party I wanted to have a red carpet theme in front of my house.  My brother and I worked hard putting up a backdrop that I wanted in front of the red carpet.  We had to hang the backdrop in between two tall trees, so we tied rope that was connected to the backdrop onto each tree.

Red Carpet with the girls

For the basement, I had a black and white theme.  I had zebra print streamers across the ceiling and black and white balloons everywhere!  I also got a plastic table cover that had a “Congrats Grad” pattern all over and put it on the wall, as a backdrop where people could take pictures in front of.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial day weekend! I stayed in the pool as long I could, the weather was beautiful!  After swimming, I had a huge dinner.  I had fruit salad, pasta salad, vegetables and dip, cheeseburgers and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for dessert! Mmmm… it was so good!  I love being outside! Summer is my favorite time of the year and I cant wait for it!

Thanks for reading and can’t wait to tell you next week about this outdoor restaurant I’m going out to for dinner this week!

Lights, Camera, Pose!

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on May 14, 2011 – 2:55 pm

Hello again Eagles fans!

So I have a crazy week ahead of me and have had a crazy week prior.  This past week my teammates and I had our trading card photo shoot & our first practice! They were both a great experience. This upcoming week I have 1 more final, Graduation and my graduation party!

The 2011 trading card photo shoot was held at Joseph Anthony’s Retreat Spa and Salon, which is one of the nicest salons I’ve ever seen!  Its gorgeous inside and out!  Even the staff that works there are very kind.  Photo shoots are one of my favorite things to do, there a lot of fun and you get pampered from head to toe!  We didn’t just take pictures for our trading cards but we also got interviewed for our individual website video bios.  This wasn’t as easy as posing for the camera, but the video interview was fun as well. Some of the questions they asked were tough to answer though.

The next day after the photo shoot, one of my friends who live in Philly, sent me a picture of the Metro newspaper…..with my face on the front page!  I couldn’t believe it.  I had to laugh because the picture was of me with my hair in big rollers while getting my makeup done for the photo shoot. I did get interviewed for Metro, but didn’t think that my picture would be front page of the paper.

I hope that everyone has been enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve been having lately.  I know I have!  Just cross your fingers for me for no rain this Saturday because that is the day of my graduation party at my house, it will be indoor and outdoors. I’m expecting a lot of people to attend, so I’m hoping for no rain!!!

Now its time to study for finals & then start shopping for decorations for my graduation party!

I’m officially a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader!

Posted by eaglescheerleader_jamielee on May 5, 2011 – 11:09 am

Hi Eagles fans!

My name is Jamielee and this is my first year on the squad as a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader!!!   This has always been a dream of mine, my hard work and dedication has finally paid off!  I am proud of myself that I made this team on my first try. I can’t explain how excited I am to be apart of the Philadelphia Eagles organization.

I would like to share my entire audition process with you! Okay here we go…….

Well one day after work in the morning, I wanted to go home and take a nap because it was a rainy day and I was feeling sleepy.  I got home, sat on the recliner chair in the living room and tried falling asleep.  I tossed and turned trying to get comfortable but I couldn’t.  I laid there in the recliner, closed my eyes and something popped into my head.  Philadelphia Eagles Auditions! It was a random thought because I wasn’t thinking anything about the Eagles.  So I quickly went online on my phone and googled 2011 Philadelphia Eagles Auditions.  There were two workshops: a mock workshop and a dance workshop.  These workshops were not mandatory in the audition process but were great for experience.  I was reading through all of the information about both workshops and was very interested but then I saw the date and realized that it was the next day!  Thoughts were going through my head like “Oh no, I have to work tomorrow and its too late to request off . I won’t be able to make it.” The mock audition workshop this year gave us the opportunity to learn the audition dance prior to open call auditions, so I was really stressing about work because I really wanted to take advantage of learning the dance for open call.  In the end, my supervisor understood that I really wanted to be a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader and let me have the day off!  I attended both workshops and was ready for open call auditions.

I parked in front of the Lincoln Financial Field, took a deep breath and walked inside for open call auditions. Walking into the room for open call was very intimidating because there were hundreds of beautiful girls that were there for a spot on the squad.  Being taught the open call dance at the workshop was extremely helpful!!! While Suzy, the choreographer was teaching the dance to the women who didn’t know the dance, it allowed me to get more practice for the dance and gave me more time to put my personality into the routine.  There were two cuts that day and waiting to hear you number is probably the most nerve racking thing, not performing the dance in front of the judges.  Sitting there waiting for my number to be called for both cuts made my heart pump so fast.  Every time the announcer said a number, I crossed my fingers hoping he would call mine.  My number was called for both cuts, I gave a huge sigh in relief.  I was so happy I was going to semi finals!

Semi Finals were held at the Nova Care complex.  At this point, I’m extremely nervous! I thought this was a crucial part of the audition because this was part of the audition that you needed to show everything you got to proceed to finals.  For semi finals we tried out in groups of three.  I was a little mad at myself after my audition because I did mess up one part of the dance but I didn’t just stand there and not do the rest of the dance, I smiled and came back in to finish the dance.  When you forget a step or mess up a part of any dance you need to look confident, not look obvious that you messed up.  To find out if you advanced, you had to call a hotline to see if you were going to finals.  I remember how happy I was when I heard my name on the hotline! I couldn’t believe I was going to final auditions, I was more more step closer in being a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader!! Time to work out, eat healthy and practice, practice, practice!

I thought that final auditions went by so quickly. I got to spend time with the other ladies auditioning and the vets who were on the team previous years.  In my dressing room there was about 15 women who had to share a small space to change outfits, put on make up and touch up their hair.  Everyone was so nice, we all were helping each other with either straightening or curling hair and applying make up.  When we had some down time we would introduce ourselves to each other and practice answering interview questions for the interview part of the audition. My mom, dad, aunt, former dance coach, and 2 fomer team mates I used to dance with came to support me at final auditions.  I also had a lot of friends and family watch the finals on the eagles website live.  After final auditions were over, I just wanted to lay in my bed and sleep!  I woke up early the following morning becuase I was so anxious and very nervous I couldnt lay down any longer.  So I went to the bagelry in my area to get breakfast for my mom and I.  I pulled up to drive through and I was told to please hold.   So I waited in my car patiently, going through songs on my cd and my cell phone goes off.  It was an email notification.  I opened my gmail and read the words ” CONGRATULATION 2011 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES CHEERLEADER.”   I was speechless! As soon as I was done reading those words the lady at the drive thru goes” What can I get you?” I was so in shock that I didn’t even remember what I was getting there.  I ordered our breakfast & while waiting in line, I called everyone in my family.  When I told my mom she started crying, which made cry.  So when I pulled up to the window to get the food, I was covered in tears of joy and said thank you while wiping my tears away.  I just want to thank everyone in my life that has supported me though out this whole process especially my family!  If it wasn’t for all the positive support and believing in me everyday, I don’t think I would of believed in myself as much as I should have without you!! I’m so thankful to be apart of the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader!

Wow, Im exhausted typing all this.  I really hope you enjoyed reading my first Eagles blog!  There will be plenty more to come about my first eagles trading card photo shoot, a typical day, my family, and planning my graduation party!!! Cant wait!

E*A*G*L*E*S  EAGLES!
