Lights Out!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on July 30, 2011 – 9:31 am

Hey Eagles Fans! I hope you had a wonderful week with the crazy weather we have been having.  This past weekend was yet another jam-packed weekend with fun festivities.  Friday my best friend Kelli came down to visit for the night.  She came down the shore to look at venues with her mom on Saturday for her wedding.   We decided to make it a girl’s night and just relax in since each of us had a tough week.  It was great!   I hadn’t seen her since our double date night in Avalon a few weekends back and we had a lot to catch up on.  Over dinner we talked about all her wedding plans and the plans she has for the cheerleading team she head coaches.  She also caught up on all the great things I have been doing with the Eagles and how my life has been going.  It was a mellow night, but it was exactly what we both needed.

Saturday was scorching hot.  We tried to lay out by the pool but it was too warm.  The sun had heated our pool so much that it felt more like a hot tub than a pool and didn’t give us the refreshing feeling we were hoping for when we jumped in.  We didn’t spend much time outside; we had to get ready for my summer work party anyway so we came in early.  We were lucky that by the time the sun set the weather was nice and cool, and we had an ocean breeze just in time for the “South of the Border” summer party.  It was wonderful; good food and the band had everyone dancing.  Sadly, I did not win any of the raffle prizes but most of the winners came from my office so I was still happy.  We had a blast.  I am very lucky to work with such great people; everyone is so friendly.

Sunday Dave had family visiting so his parents had a barbeque at their house.  We relaxed, lounging on floats in the pool while the guys splashed around playing basketball.  It turned out to be a nice day.  The sky was a little overcast in the morning but by the afternoon the clouds parted and the sun was shining.  It was another hot day but the pool was cool and refreshing.  Although it was sunny I could hear thunder off in the distance.  I didn’t pay attention because there were no clouds in the sky.  Later in the afternoon there was a complete change in the weather.  The temperature chilled instantly and the sky became dark.  We had just finished bringing in all of the barbeque stuff when the rain just poured down.  The storm was strong; it tore tree branches down onto the cars and onto the streets.  Once the rough winds and rain died down we headed home, only to find that we had absolutely no electricity.  Since we have well-water that runs by the electric, we had no running water.  We made the most of what we had; I opened all of the curtains and lit all of the candles in the house.  It was a little too quite so I put my beach radio to work and played some tunes from my Ipod.  When we got tired of playing Gin, we changed it up with a game of Go Fish, which I won, and then Dave taught me a little bit about Poker.  We had absolutely no air conditioning, which as you can imagine, the house became a sauna after the sun was beating down on it all day.  But I prevailed and at two o’clock in the morning was very happy when I heard the central air conditioner kick on.  I have never been so thankful for electricity!  THANK YOU BENJAMIN FRANKLIN!!!

Stay tuned Eagles Fans, I have another amazing weekend ahead and I’m bringing you along for the ride!

See you out there!

Everyone Loves a Long Weekend!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on July 9, 2011 – 11:36 am

Hey Eagles Fans!  I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend.  I had an amazing weekend that luckily trickled into the week since I only had to work a few days in the office.  I was hoping for good weather because I had all outdoor plans, and the weather Gods smiled down on me.

Dave and I at Nina's Wedding.

On Saturday, one of my close friends from college, Nina, got married.  Dave and I drove out to Bryn Anthyn, Pennsylvania for her dream wedding.  Although they say rain is lucky on your wedding day, she could not have asked for a more perfect day.  The sun was shining, there was a light breeze and the weather was warm.  The ceremony was outside as the sun was setting, it was so romantic.  She looked amazing from head to toe.  As you know, I’m a shoe and purse kind of woman; she wore the most incredible pair of Monolo Blahnik’s which, perfectly fitting, had “I Do” in Swarovski crystals set into the bottom of her stilettos as her “something blue” to go with her couture wedding dress.  The entire wedding was fit for a princess.  The reception took place both inside and outside of a mansion.   We had a wonderful dinner followed by dancing and all the fun wedding festivities.  It was great to see my college friends and catch up with their current lives.  As the night came to an end, we all said our goodbyes promising not to let too much time pass before getting together again.

My Favorite People Lindsey, Michelle, and Ayva.

On Sunday I was awaken at 6am by the clash of thunder and lightning.  If you remember my last blog, I was running around preparing for the barbecue I was having as a going away party for former Eagles Cheerleader Ayva and to celebrate the holiday.  I heard the rain pouring down, but I did not let that dampen my spirits.  I jumped out of bed and said a quick prayer to the weather Gods and to all the meteorologists.  I started cooking right away.  I absolutely love to cook, and there is no better feeling than when people enjoy my cooking.  I made potato salad, Italian pasta salad, macaroni with shrimp salad; buffalo chicken dip, seven layer taco dip, and steak kabobs.  We also had the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers.  By the time one o’clock rolled around, the clouds parted and the sun was shining.  It was another beautiful day.  We cooled off in the pool and relaxed on the deck all afternoon.  It was so much fun hanging out with my favorite people.  We did get a little rain but not until we had already brought everything inside.  It was perfect timing.

Avalon Fireworks.

I love a long weekend.  Having Monday off was so relaxing.  I was able to sleep in a little before cleaning and straightening up the house. After, I was ready to hop into my swimsuit and lay out by the pool.  I brought whatever food was left from our barbecue to Dave’s parent’s house for their 4thof July cookout.  We laid out on floats and played corn-hole all afternoon.   Later, I was able to convince Dave to take me to the fireworks in Avalon.  We got really lucky.  When we got to Avalon, we found a great parking spot right by the beach.  There weren’t many people on the beach yet so we had the entire beach to find the perfect spot to watch the fireworks.  We set up camp and listened to the waves crashing against the shore as the sun set.  As the last bit of light disappeared, we got ready for the show to begin.  We picked a great spot, the fireworks started early in Sea Isle City so we were able to see those before Avalon’s started.  My favorite part about watching fireworks is the pound you feel in your chest as the color explodes in the sky.  It was a great show and the finale was amazing.

After the long weekend I was not ready to go back to work, but I did have something to look forward to.  Dave’s sister turned 25 on Tuesday so we celebrated her quarter of a century birthday with her family and friends.  I had Wednesday off so Dave and I decided to see a late movie.  I have seen every Transformers movie so I was really excited to see the new one in 3D.  It was just as good as I expected.  I highly recommend seeing it in the movie theatre.   The 3D is amazing on the big screen.  Wednesday turned out to be a terrible beach day, but I couldn’t complain, I was on vacation.  We still headed to the beach in the early afternoon and then back to the pool after.  Since it was mid-week I was already looking forward to this weekend.  I’ve got another fun packed weekend ahead, so I’m going to snuggle up with Mick and catch up on the first episode of my favorite show Big Brother 13 on this stormy night.

My Micky!

Come back next week Eagles Fan’s to catch up on my trip to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and another fun-filled weekend!

See you out there!

Fun in the Sun!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on July 1, 2011 – 6:33 pm

Hey Eagles Fans!  This was such a beautiful weekend that I didn’t want it to end!  I was very busy this weekend.  Friday I enjoyed the warm day out on the beach with my two favorite boys.  The beach wasn’t too crowded which was surprising so we had plenty of room to play football.  Mick is a great cornerback, he played defense the entire time.  He is also pretty fast, so it’s hard to get away from him.  As soon as I said “Ready” Mick started barking like he was talking trash to me.  He stayed right with me until Dave passed me the football, then he wouldn’t even go for the block, Mick would just take me down.   He cheated a little.  He would try to trip me every chance he had, but it was so much fun.  Just running around with him, you can tell he was so happy.

Saturday came around and I woke up early to layout on my deck before I had to get ready for an appearance.  It was so hot, but Lauren and I had a great time at the appearance.  There were a bunch of young girls there who were so excited to meet us.  It reminded me how lucky I am to be living my dream.  We participated in a hula-hoop contest; I was doing really well until they made us hula-hoop balanced on one leg.  I was out almost instantly, but I did learn the trick from the young girl who beat me.  I left that appearance feeling fortunate for how wonderful my life is.

My Best Friend Kelli and I

We went out in Avalon on Saturday night with my best friend Kelli and her boyfriend Justin who were down the shore for the day and I hadn’t seen them in a couple of months.  I scanned my closet for a fun outfit and picked out my highest wedges.  It was great to catch up with Kelli.  We live quite a distance from each other so we don’t get to see each other as often as we did before.  Each time we get together it’s like we never skipped a beat.  To me that is what makes a good friend a best friend.

Sunday was another sunny, warm day.  I started my day with another appearance in Margate, NJ.  I participated in this appearance last year, and had so much fun that I made sure I could participate again this year.  I met some amazing young kids at this event.  It was nice to talk to them and find out their path up to this point.  After the appearance I came home to an open pool.  Finally!  Our pool was ready!  I brought my radio out, turned on some Kenny Chesney and blew up my new float.  The sun was just about to reach the top of our trees in the yard so I knew I had very little time left in the sun.  I tossed my float in the pool and jumped in.  It was the perfect way to end my weekend.

Well Eagles Fans, I’m starting to get ready to celebrate the upcoming holiday weekend.  Stay tuned I’ll let you know how my barbeque for the 4th of July goes!

See you out there!

I’ve Gone Coastal!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on June 26, 2011 – 9:00 pm

Meshell and I

Hey Eagles fans! Welcome back to my blog page. I had an amazing weekend.  You may not be aware but I absolutely love country music; it’s my guilty pleasure.  I have been looking forward to this past weekend all year-long!  Kenny Chesney is my all-time favorite country singer.  His music is so relaxing that it just puts me at ease.  This weekend I went “Coastal” when I went to see him perform at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday with my mom Alicia, my friends Meshell, and Greg.  As we got to the Lincoln Financial Field, the atmosphere was completely different from a game day.  Everyone had their country music blaring and sporting their country attire.  We quickly started putting our paradise together.  We set up our tent and hung festive, bright-colored paper lanterns around it.  Our tent of course was the prettiest.  We had a wonderful buffet of food to eat.  Once in the stadium we trekked up to our seats on the 200 level and enjoyed the music from the opening act, the Zac Brown Band.  To my surprise, one of my best friends and her family was sitting two rows right in front of us!  I hadn’t seen them in a while so it was great to enjoy the concert with them.  It was another successful concert!  The music was great and he is an excellent entertainer.  Even Coach Reid made an appearance on stage to present Kenny with an Eagles helmet before he sang “The Boys of Fall”.  We had an amazing time.

Last Sunday marked a very special day.  I’m definitely a Daddy’s girl; I have an amazing relationship with my father.  We have always been really close and when I moved away from home it was a big adjustment not seeing him every day.  He always calls to check-up on me and keeps up with everything I’m doing.  Last Sunday I took him out for a Father’s Day Brunch.  My dad absolutely loves food, so this was a great treat for him.  I have the best dad in the world.  He has supported me through everything and I could not ask for a more loving and caring father.  I love you dad!

Mick getting ready for bedtime.

This week has been busy, which is always good, but I love being home with Mick.  We took Mick for a run on the beach; he loves all the free space to run around.  He is my protector.  Everywhere I go he is right by my side.  In the morning when I get ready for work he lays in the hallway just to be close to me.  I love my Micky.  When I am doing the dishes, he always watches out for me.  He will sit at attention right behind me and watch everything that goes on behind my back until I am done.  Now that he is getting a little older and listens so much better, I’ve been letting him sleep upstairs next to my bed – don’t tell Dave.  As soon as I turn off the downstairs light and say “Micky let’s go”, he grabs his bone and heads right up the steps.  He is the best kind of friend.  I would highly recommend getting a dog.  It is the best feeling when I come home and he gets so excited to see me, like I’ve been gone forever.  We call it his “coo coo time” because he gets so crazy when we get home.  It’s nice to know he misses us.

Mick

Well Eagles fans, thanks for stopping by to read my blog!  I’m looking forward to another beautiful weekend and eventful week!

See you out there!

Another work week down!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on June 17, 2011 – 10:48 pm

Welcome back Eagles Fans!  I hope you have been enjoying the wonderful weather we’ve been having as much as I have.  It’s so good to get time to relax and unwind.  Last weekend I was able to relax on my deck and just soak up some rays listening to Kenny Chesney CD’s.  I’m getting ready for his concert this weekend.  His music always makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

Mick, he loves fetch.

Once again it was a hot day.  I played fetch with Mick for a little while and had to jump into the pool to cool down.  I love living at the shore… One of my favorite things about living here is how clear the sky gets as the sun sets.  The stars are so bright and they seem so close.  I always try to find the different constellations.  I love summer days lying on a float in the pool with a good book.  Saturday we packed our stuff and headed to the beach.  While there I got the chance to work on my passing game!  I have to admit I’m getting pretty darn good!  My next goal is to work on my distance.  My accuracy has improved significantly.  I’ve been anxious to go swimming in the ocean and was feeling a little daring this weekend!  I convinced Dave to go for a swim in the ice-cold water.  It took some time to build up the courage to run in but once I got it I dove into the first wave that came along.  It was freezing!   After the first dive I think I went numb and it didn’t feel so bad.  We were the only crazy ones in the ocean, but it was so much fun.  It started to drizzle so we decided to make it a dinner and movie night.

I have been so excited to see The Hangover Part II.  Many of my friends and co-workers saw it when it was first released so it was difficult to stay away from all of the spoilers.  I am so glad I went into the movie before hearing the critics’ reviews.  I thought it was hysterical; I will definitely be adding it to my movie collection.

Dave and I at the Stadium.

I’m a huge Phillies fan, so I took the opportunity Saturday to support my team against the Cubs.  The day looked promising, but the weatherman was calling for rain.  Dave and I went to the game early to watch the team practice and grab a cheesesteak before the national anthem.  Our seats were amazing right behind third base a few rows up.  The sun had come out a few times and I was excited for the game to start.  Just as the Phillies took the field the skies opened up and we got a torrential down pour!  I have never seen so many people move so quickly!  Of course I took this as an opportunity to do some shopping!   I bought a new Phillies Tee.  The rain was powerful but over quick.  It was a great game and of course our Phillies won.  I had to call my friend who is a Cubs fan just in case she missed the game.  Sunday brought another relaxing morning; I headed by the pool, spent some time playing corn-hole with Dave’s parents – which, may I add, I’m getting pretty good at – I’m very competitive and all of this practice will come in handy when we play at our barbeques.

I’m looking forward to another beautiful weekend.  Stay tuned Eagles Fans, the count down to my Going Coastal at the Kenny Chesney concert has begun!

See you out there!

Memorial Day Weekend!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on May 31, 2011 – 11:45 pm

The Front Guards I met.

Welcome back Eagles Fans!  This has been an eventful weekend!   Before I get into the fun holiday weekend stuff, I want to share how my work week ended.  Work was very busy this week.   It’s always good to see people come back after surgery so happy to be pain-free.  On Thursday after another long day in clinic I got a wonderful surprise!  I was summoned to the front desk to sign for a package.  To my delight there was the most beautiful Edible Bouquet waiting for me sent by one of our patients.   It was a magnificent arrangement filled with an assortment of fresh fruit including pineapple, bananas and chocolate covered strawberries.  It was timely and enjoyed by everyone in the office since we were there late, as usual.  I needed a little energy to get me through a few more phone calls and a stack of paperwork.  The bouquet was so unnecessary but much appreciated and very unexpected and generous.  It meant so much to me.

I was fortunate to start my weekend a little early on Friday; I was able to leave work around noon.  Although I had to sit in some holiday weekend traffic, I was starting my long weekend early so I was in no rush and nothing was going to get me down!  The sky was clear with a few clouds; it was warm and there was an ocean breeze sweeping across our yard.  I took Mick outside to play fetch.  When we got too hot, I got into my bathing suit to enjoy the sun while Mick lay at my feet munching on a pile of ice cubes.  I was able to relax and feel the weight of the week just melt away.

The Monument for Passed Midshipmen.

We got off to an early start on Saturday; Dave had a Championship Football game in Annapolis, Maryland.  I wanted to have some time to sightsee before the start of the game so we left early.  My mom and I had lunch at a nice sushi restaurant located in the heart of Annapolis.  The weather was fantastic; it was warm, the sun was shining.  We decided to go on a quick tour of the United States Naval Academy; this seemed fitting in honor of our service men and women for the Memorial Day holiday.  The grounds were spectacular and I had the opportunity to chat with two of the front gate guards.  Neither one was an Eagles fan, but I let it slide since they were in uniform…  They carry some pretty heavy artillery which was a little intimidating to see up-close.  As would be expected, they were perfect gentlemen and were nice enough to pose for a picture.  We walked around and got some pictures at various monuments.  I would like to go back to take a guided tour and learn more about the history of the Academy.

The Fountain in front of Chauvenet Hall.

It was a great day to watch a football game.  Honestly, it was too hot to play football and run around in all that football gear for my liking but it was a nice day to be supportive and watch from the sidelines.   Unfortunately, Dave’s team didn’t win the game, but it was a great game — they held their own.  It was a tough loss, but there is always next year!  They will come back stronger and tougher!

We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing and visiting with family and friends.  On Sunday while everyone was heading to the beach, we left the traffic and crowds of the shore towns behind to spend the day with Dave’s family in Glenside, Pennsylvania.  On Monday we hung by the pool instead of heading to the beach and dealing with the traffic.  I got a nice base tan over the weekend so the weekend was a total success!

Kathleen and I relaxing in the pool.

On Sunday night Dave and I headed out to North Wildwood to meet up with my friends Ayva and Tommy.  Ayva and I met my first year on the Philadelphia Eagles squad and have been great friends ever since.  Fortunately, they have a house at the shore for the summer, so I am looking forward to spending a lot more time with them!

Well Eagles fans, Mick is getting tired, as am I, so I’m going to put him to bed and get some sleep myself.  I’m looking forward to another eventful week so be sure to check back next week to read all about it!

P.S. My lobster dinner was a huge success!

See you out there!

Welcome to my world!

Posted by eaglesjess328 on May 24, 2011 – 9:52 am

Hey Eagles fans, I’m really excited to give you a glimpse of my life outside of the Eagles stadium.  This is my third season with the Eagles and my very first blog!  This promises to be a fun and eventful summer, so be sure to come back each week to keep up with my exciting activities and my day-to-day routine!

This is my Micky, he is so handsome.

To get things started I’ll tell you a little bit about myself.  I live by the beach and I absolutely love it.  It’s like being on vacation everyday.  I can hear the seagulls and smell the ocean from my backyard.  It is very relaxing.  I live here with my boyfriend, Dave, and our terror German shepherd, Mick.  Mick is a year and 4 months old.  Although he weighs 91 pounds and is taller than I am when he stands on his hind legs, he is not yet fully grown.  He is my baby and I absolutely love him.  Mick thinks he is a human being and I am not convinced that he isn’t… I don’t mind spoiling him.  Most people think I am crazy because of everything I do for him.  Mick has his own room with a huge fluffy couch which he sleeps comfortably on.  He eats gourmet foods.  All of his meals are topped with chicken or pork gravy and parmesan cheese which is his favorite.  Anyone who has a dog will understand why I enjoy making Micky happy.

We recently installed a hot  tub, so most nights I have the luxury of unwinding in our little piece of heaven.  The weather has been a little shaky with the rain and awful storms, but we had a wonderful weekend.  If the weather continues to be warm, we should be able to open our pool in the next few weeks.  I live in the ultimate location; I am a quick ride from the beach; a short trip to Atlantic City where I do most of my shopping.  Between the outlet stores in The Walk and the shops in The Pier, I can always find whatever I need.

Dave and I, this was taken a couple of weeks ago in Miami. We took a mini-vacation for my cousin's wedding.

Saturday was the nicest day of the entire week.  I had an appearance at the NovaCare Complex for the Men’s Academy and I could not ask for a more beautiful day.  The sun was shining and there were a few clouds in the sky which came in handy when we needed some shade.  Tiffany and I were together for the entire appearance and I must say we picked the most entertaining station.  We got to play quarterback for a little while.  I have to admit I need to practice–my aim definitely needs some work.  It was a lot of fun and the men we played with took it easy on us.  We started to get a little better toward the end of the day.  Next year I’ll be more advanced!  I have all summer on the beach to work on my passing game.

As I am blogging, I’m preparing a special dinner for my hardworking boyfriend who is still at work.  I’m a pretty good cook.  Tonight I am cooking whole lobster, corn on the cob and my exceptional garlic Yukon gold potato dish.  I enjoy cooking and baking and it is even more enjoyable when I have someone who really appreciates it.  I’m looking forward to seeing Dave’s reaction to my dinner tonight!  Sooo, I’m going to get the cooking started and I’ll let you know how it turns out!

See you out there!
