Eagles Defeat Dallas 34 to 7
Posted by Leonard's Memory Lane on October 31, 2011 – 6:11 pmLast night was a great game with the Eagles really playing to their full potential.
–holding a team’s leading rusher to under 100 yards often is a measure of success; Philadelphia did that De Marco Murray, who gained 74 yards. He still averaged 4.3 yards per carry; but the Eagles by scoring and a whopping 42 minutes of offense removed him as a threat,
–the Eagles ran for 239 yards against the NFL’s number one team against the rush; Dallas had previously average yielding 74 yards per game,
– the Eagles did have a key Red Zone failure and settled for just a field goal near the end of the first half,
–Nnamdi Asomuga was really alert getting the interception after the deflected pass; players can never let up in a game,
–Tony Romo’s 70 yard touchdown pass to Laurent Robinson was a well executed play; it prevented Andy Reid from getting his first shutout;
–the announcers made that same dumb statement about a running back, in this case Shady McCoy, getting stronger as the game goes on; not true; the offense just consumes less energy than the defense for any given period of time,
–DeMarcus Ware continues to be an Eagles nemesis getting four sacks for 23 yards.
–Stopping the Cowboys on downs inside the Eagles five with five minutes left in the game was also big. Even though the score was 34 to 7, I was not comfortable until then.

A Blizzard in October?!
Posted by traceyeagles on October 29, 2011 – 1:10 pmGreeting Eagles fans!
It might as well have been Christmas morning today, because when I woke up and looked out the window, it was snowing like crazy! It is still coming down strong and I think we now have about 3 inches of snow! Talk about a trick or treat for this Halloween!
Here are some photos I took this morning as I attempted to take my dog out for a very chilly and snowy walk. In the second photo you will notice my pumpkin…it’s a good thing I didn’t carve it yet! But how funny is it to see this bright fall item covered in snow?!

This snow seems to have everyone confused right now. I feel like I should be decorating our Christmas tree and listening to Christmas carols, but instead I am trying to figure out when my fiancé and I can go and get candy for the trick-or-treaters on Monday! Mother nature truly surprised us this time
Now, onto tomorrows game! I hope those of you who will be joining us at the stadium have your snow suit ready! I am sure that the stadium will be cleared out as best it can, but I wouldn’t leave home without your gloves and snow boots just to be safe! I packed my suitcase for the game last night and even threw in all my under armor gear just in case we need it! Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the snow will subside and we will see some sunshine tomorrow!
But how excited are you for the biggest game of the season?! Eagles vs Cowboys the moment we have been waiting for! I am feeling pretty confident that we will play a great game, so lets keep those fingers crossed that we have a victory on our hands!
Well, I better go and get the fire-place up and running it is getting chilly in here! See you tomorrow at the game…. GO BIRDS!
Xoxo,
Tracey

Happy Halloween
Posted by Jen on October 28, 2011 – 12:23 pmHi Eagles fans! Are you all getting ready for Halloween weekend? I normally don’t make a big deal out of Halloween, but this year I thought it would be fun to go pumpkin picking and carve a pumpkin to put out on display. I haven’t carved a pumpkin in a few years, and I must say, I felt like a kid again! On Tuesday afternoon I was able to squeeze in a trip to a local pumpkin patch with my boyfriend. It was a perfect, sunny, fall day for pumpkin picking too. We picked out our favorite pumpkin, bought a fun carving kit, and got to work carving a haunted house. Take a look at the finished product!
Well, even more important than Halloween preparations is the Eagles game this Sunday! We are playing the Dallas Cowboys, which is always an exciting game. Plus, it’s a Sunday Night Football game this weekend! The fans are always even more enthusiastic during the Sunday night football games. We cheerleaders have been working very hard at rehearsals to prepare three new quarter break dances for this game. They are really great, and I know you will enjoy them! In the meantime, stay warm this weekend. Can you believe it’s supposed to snow on Saturday!?! I was really enjoying the beautiful fall weather we’ve been having; I’m definitely not ready for winter weather so soon! Enjoy your weekend, and help us cheer on our Eagles on Sunday night!

Courtney: Happy Bye Week!
Posted by COURTNEYwithaC on October 23, 2011 – 6:17 pmHey Eagles fans!
So our Eagles have a bye-week… does it not feel like something’s missing today? Sunday’s just aren’t the same without a little Bird Gang football!
I’m used to being super busy all the time, so I guess I should take advantage of a little time off! A few weeks ago we had two back-to-back home games, and I had to somehow find time to study for all of my midterm exams. On the morning of the Redskins game, I woke up bright and early to get ready for a game-watch party that I hosted at my apartment, so I spent the morning preparing bite-size snacks, finger foods, and of course, cupcakes!
What a great win for our birds! We had some extremely impressive plays, and I’m so excited to see how the team plays together for the rest of the season. Next Sunday is Sunday Night Football… can’t wait!
This weekend was Homecoming at my college. What a beautiful fall weekend to hang out with friends and see some of my closest friends who I haven’t seen since graduation in May.
Plus, I got to see Drake perform at our annual Hoops Mania basketball pep rally! I haven’t been to a concert in the longest time, and at one point I was just INCHES away from him!
I had an amazing weekend, and I just CAN’T WAIT for next weekend… bring it on, Cowboys!
Until next time… GO BIRDS!
P.S. Who’s pumped for Halloween? Halloween is one of my favorite holidays… I’ll definitely be baking a bunch of Halloween treats!

It’s study time!
Posted by kelseyeaglescheerleader on October 18, 2011 – 2:00 pmHey Eagles fans!
Sorry it’s been a little while since my last post..these next few weeks are midterms in all of my classes and I have been working hard to study so I am well prepared for them! One thing I did interupt all my studying this weekend for was the Eagles game this past Sunday, and I was glad I did because it was a great game and I was so happy for the win! I know our team is great, and I was glad to see all that hard work end with a big W! Now let’s hope for another one in 2 more weeks at our next home game against the Cowboys…it should be an exciting one!
(Now back-tracking a little bit) A few weeks ago it was my best friend since high school’s 22nd birthday, so a group of us headed down to Atlantic City to celebrate! It was such a fun time, and we danced and celebrated the night away, but one thing I did while we were all getting ready in the room was that I snuck out without my best friend seeing and went to the bake shop in the hotel to get her a little birthday treat. I also found some candles, so I got the treat all ready and hid it from her until right at midnight when she turned 22 and lit the candles and got everyone to sing happy birthday! She was so shocked and surprised that she started crying and laughing all at the same time! I was so happy that she was so appreciative, and it made me feel good as well. I love that we’ve remained friends all of these years and can still celebrate these special moments with each other
Well I’m off to go do some more studying, and then practice later. We’ve been working really hard these past few weeks to have some great new dances for you all by the next home game!
Have a great rest of the week!

Birthday Celebrations, Hayrides, and More !
Posted by marissaxdance on October 17, 2011 – 9:04 pmHello Eagles Fans!
I do not want you to think I forgot about you, I have just been caught up with work and school! The past couple weeks have been extremely stressful for the fact I had my class midterms. I had so many papers, assignments, and exams. I am so happy the work load is over with and now I am even closer to ending the fall semester. In fact, I have to register for my spring courses already!
My 21st birthday just passed last Monday and I really enjoyed celebrating with my family and great friends. It was definitely one to remember. My girlfriends took me out to Atlantic City and New York City. One night was better than the next. It was a perfect break in all this work I have been bombarded with but of course fun to celebrate another year older with the people I care about. Here is a picture of my fabulous cake! I requested a pretty pink lipstick, and trust me it tasted delicious too!!
On Sunday, my friends from the studio and I went to Lindvilla Orchards. It was our Second Annual DanceAdelphia –Alumni Lindvilla Orchards Event. We started the event last year because we missed performing in our studio’s haunted house horror show. This gave us a way to still celebrate Halloween with everyone. There were 8 of us all together and we spent the day going on hayrides, walking through corn mazes, and eating delicious food! It was wonderful to see all of my friends who I grew up dancing with and just getting excited for the fall and Halloween.
Other than that, I am excited about our latest win against Washington and cannot wait until the Eagles vs. Dallas game. This is by far my families’ favorite game to go to or watch because of the everlasting rivalry! We have some great dances prepared for this game that I am sure the fans will love. I definitely have to rehearse on my own a little tonight and tomorrow to be prepared for tomorrow night’s practice.
Until then,
-Xoxo Marissa

Fall Festivities!
Posted by traceyeagles on October 17, 2011 – 7:58 pmHi there Eagles fans!
Happy fall to you all! Now I do not know about you, but fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons especially because there is so much to do and enjoy outside. When the leaves start changing and the vibrant colors appear, it makes me so excited to pull out my fall clothes and hats, start sipping pumpkin lattes and eating caramel apples. I am also a huge fan of taking part in any and all fall festivities I can get my hands on which is why yesterday was a wonderful day! My fiancé and I decided to take some back country roads to a great farm that was open for pumpkin picking. When we arrived we actually stopped first to watch a PIG RACE! Not only did we learn some fun facts about pigs, which by the way are the 4th most intelligent mammal behind humans, monkeys and dolphins; but we were able to watch them race around a ring and see which pig would take home the prize! It was a neat experience and we had a lot of fun watching them “wee-wee-wee all the way home”.
After the race, we fed some goats and lambs and then proceeded to make our way to a massive corn maze. Jonathan took liberty in reading the map to ensure that we didn’t get lost, however that was inevitable and a little while later we made our way out and back to the farm. We ended the day with a hayride out to a pumpkin patch where were picked some unique looking pumpkins and headed home to decorate our house with our new Halloween items!
Not only was yesterday a great day to be outside, but as our Eagles have proven, it was a great day to win some football! My parents were really getting in on the excitement and kept texting me the plays and scores since I was out an about all day, which was great to keep tabs on the game even while feeding the farm animals
After an awesome victory, Jonathan and I headed into Philly for his pre-birthday celebration with my parents, but it wasn’t until later when it was time to get our “spook on” as we headed over to the Eastern State Penitentiary for their annual ‘Terror Behind the Walls” Halloween extravaganza! This was my 4th time visiting the attraction and each year it gets even scarier! Even though the actors are not allowed to touch you, several of them seemed to love following me throughout the maze which in my opinion is even more freaky! Needless to say, we made it out alive and have decided to go and do a haunted hayride at Bates Motel this week. I have to admit, I’m not so into Halloween, but visiting some haunted attractions are a must this time of year.
Tomorrow, it is back to rehearsal and some more wedding planning as we are about 7 months away from my big day but only 2 weeks away from our next home game against the Cowboys! I hope to see you all at the game cheering on our team and hoping that we can have another great game and victory!
Until next week, enjoy the photos from our day at the farm and to my fiancé, I wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Xoxo,
Tracey

Defeating Washington 20 to 13
Posted by Leonard's Memory Lane on October 17, 2011 – 4:26 pmThe victory at Washington yesterday was a relief and raised hopes that the team can turn this season around. The defensive improvement in Buffalo in the second half carried over into the game yesterday. The Philadelphia defense came in 31st against the run and gave up only 42 yards. They will of course rise on the shelves when the statistics come out. This was an amazing show against any team in the NFL.
This is what happened. Philadelphia had a 20 to 0 lead and forced the Redskins to pass and rely less, but not abandon, the ground game. It is tough for any quarterback to come back from 20 points behind. Rex Grossman is not a good quarterback as the four interception indicated.
Some good points:
–The tackling was sharp and crisp and the Skins broke only a few tackles. The Eagles seemed to be using their entire body. In some prior situations they looked like they were grabbing a greased pig;
–There was really only one bad offensive play that prevented Philadelphia from breaking the game wide open. That was the interception Micheal Vick threw at the Redskins six early in the third quarter. The score was 20 to 3 at the time.
–Mike Shanahan put in John Beck at QB late in the game. The fans at Fed Ex field were booing Rex Grossman and rightly so. I never saw Beck before and the announcer said that he had not played in the NFL for three years. He sure was able to burn the secondary on an 80 yards touchdown drive . I don’t know if the Eagles used a prevent defense, Beck had a great series, or we could not adjust to him. I was glad the Eagles could run the clock after that. The defensive line for the Redskins was tired.
–This league, especially Dallas next, is not composed of guys like Rex Grossman. No overconfidence please. The Eagles in nature have great eye sight, being able to spot its prey from high in the sky. The Eagles from Philadelphia should be near sighted and not see beyond Dallas in two weeks.
–If the Eagles are fortunate enough to have blow out win sometime this season, Andy Reid should insert Vince Young at quarterback ASAP and let him throw even if it’s only for one play. Extreme example. The Eagles are leading 20 to 10, five second to go, and have the ball. Put Young in and let him pass.
–Kurt Coleman was great.

A Successful “Dance-a-Thon”
Posted by Jen on October 16, 2011 – 9:54 amHi Eagles fans! Are you all enjoying your weekend so far? This has been a very busy weekend for me, as I have been working the entire time. On Saturday I had to teach dance classes from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and then I was in charge of a fundraiser from 5:00 - 7:00PM. The ballet theater company that I am the business manager for is a non-profit organization, so we rely heavily on fundraisers and ticket sales to support the company. Since the company will be performing The Nutcracker in December, we needed to start raising money to pay for the many expenses that come with putting on a large production. I thought it would be fun to have a “dance-a-thon” fundraiser for the dancers in the company. The point of the dance-a-thon was to have everyone dancing non-stop for two hours. I made a pledge form, similar to a pledge form for a fundraiser walk or run, and told each dancer that they were required to raise a minimum of $100 in donations. I also went to many local business and asked for donations to be used as prizes for those who went above and beyond the $100 minimum requirement. Many of the dancers’ parents also got a lot of prize donations from businesses, and some of them were really great. Some of the dancers who raised above and beyond $100 won gift certificates to salons, restaurants, and local dancewear stores. I asked parents to bring food to the event, and we even had lots of pizzas donated from a local pizzeria. I decorated the dance studio, found a DJ to provide the music and entertainment, set up all of the food, and organized all of the prizes. And I’m so happy to say that the fundraiser was a big success! We raised a total of $9,750 for the ballet company. By the end of the night, I’m sure you can imagine that I was completely exhausted. After teaching dance classes all morning and afternoon, it was pretty tiring running a dance-a-thon with about 80 young dancers, but it was worth it in the end. It always feels great when your hard work pays off! Below is a photo of me with one of my younger students at the dance-a-thon.
Well, today I wish I could relax at home and cheer on the Eagles as they play the Redskins at Washington. However, I have another long work day ahead of me. I will be running rehearsal for The Nutcracker today from 12:00 – 6:00 PM. Everyone at the dance studio knows that I am an Eagles Cheerleader and a true, die-hard fan, so the dancers’ parents are always good at giving me updates on the score while I’m running rehearsal! I’m confident that the Eagles can have a great comeback this season and pull off a win today. That would make our next home game against the Cowboys even more exciting! Well, I hope you all have a great Sunday and enjoy the game. GO EAGLES!

The Last Two Games With Buffalo
Posted by Leonard's Memory Lane on October 5, 2011 – 3:56 pmThe first meeting with the Buffalo Bills under Andy Reid was a 26 to 0 loss away in 1999. We of course can forget this since it was Andy’s first year of coaching. The last have been meaningful victories
2003 at Buffalo
This scenario of this game bares a striking similarity to what’s on the grill for this Sunday. The Buffalo Bill’s were 2-1 with an open day 31 to 0 win over the New England Patriots. The Eagles, coming off a BYE week, were 0-2. The losses were blowouts and at home-17 to 0 to Tampa Bay and 31 to 10 to New England. David Ackers kept the Eagles in the game with three field goals and Brian Westbrook ran 63 yards for a touchdown. The defense held Buffalo to 21 yards rushing. The Eagles won 23 to 13.
2007 At Philadelphia
Both clubs were 7-8 seeking to avoid a losing season. I personally was very angry over 07. Five of the eight losses were well within reach with one or two plays in each game making the difference. To keep from digressing, the Eagles won 17 to 9. Kevin Curtis was a game saver recovering Donovan McNabb’s fumble in the Bills End Zone. McNabb was 29 for 41 for 345 yards and a touchdown.
