Courtney: Happy June!
Posted by COURTNEYwithaC on June 1, 2011 – 5:00 pmHi Eagles fans!

Homemade sugar cookies with buttercream icing... and lazy decorating (but they were still delicious!)
Happy June!!! Hope everyone had a fun, safe, and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend! We should always appreciate those who gave their lives during military service, but Memorial Day is a great day of celebration – and a reminder of our country’s patriotism and national unity.
I moved into my first apartment today, and there’s SO MUCH TO DO! I am so excited, yet so overwhelmed with everything I need to get done. I don’t know about you, but I want my place to look as cozy and furnished as possible! Luckily, crafting is one of my favorite pastimes. I had some down time, so here are just some of the things I created for the apartment:
Things you need:
-Coat rack
-Spray paint
-Gold paint
To make this, I had an old (ugly) coat rack hanging around, so I spray painted it with Krylon Fusion for Plastic spray paint — a few thin coats so it doesn’t drip! I then painted the trim and handles with gold paint. The whole project cost me only $6!
Things you need:
-Shower curtain / curtain / fabric
-Sharpie
-Computer paper
To make this, I bought a shower curtain, and cut it to the dimensions of my bookshelf. I then wrote “COURTNEY” in block letters on pieces of paper, and taped them on the back of the curtain. After that, I flipped it over and wrote out lyrics, writing around the block letters. By the way, I used Michael Jackson lyrics – my favorite!
Things you need:
-Frame (I used a 14″ x 18″)
-Spray paint
-Sheet metal (you can pick this up at a hardware store… the clerk at the HVAC store actually gave me my piece for free!)
-Chalkboard spray paint
-Small circular magnets
-Gold paint
To make this, I sprayed the sheet metal with a few coats of chalkboard spray paint. I then spray painted the frame and magnet calendars with an ivory Krylon spray paint. After everything dried, I used the gold paint to paint the calendar grid, and the numbers on the circular magnets. I taped the sheet metal to the frame, and TA-DA! Magnetic chalkboard calendar. Now I can just move the magnetic numbers when the next month rolls around.
For whatever reason, I find arts & crafts so relaxing and enjoyable (especially when they’re so easy!)… hopefully I can find some spare time to make more home decor.
I need to go unpack and put my room together, but I will keep you posted on my progress!
Hope you’re having a great week – thanks for reading!
P.S. Is anyone else sickly hooked with the new show “The Voice”? I have so many favorite contestants. If you haven’t seen it… WATCH IT! I’m PUMPED for the live show next Tuesday!
GO EAGLES!
